i have just helped a friend fit and wire up a 300Tdi (non EDC) (discovery engine) into a 2.5TD 90 (1990 G)
it fired up first time, and all the wires whent to the correct place, but we are having a few problems
i will start with the Alternator problem
the alternator has 3 terminals on it one id a big terminal B+ (main battery), smaller Terminal D+ (???), and male spade terminal W (Charge Light i think?)
i cant get the alt to charge, if i connect to W the light doesnt work at all, if i connect it to D+ it flickers but still doesnt charge,
does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2.5 TD 90 charge light and the wiring diagram for a 300Tdi discovery Alternator
or any hints or help as to what is wrong
and secondly, the coolant temp sensor is 300tdi and the temp guage is 2.5 td, but when running the engine to check it worked and got to temp, the guage went up to just in the red, but the engine was warm, the rad was not even luke warm, is this beacause the temp guage is the wrong one for the sender??

Rev counter works off the alternator on discos?? ill go n check which wire...
In order of looking from the NS. Batt main --> D+ charge light? --> and the one furthest away is my revcounter (96 discotdi), couldnt see the marking on the back for numbers/letters on that one.

yeah put the td temp sensor in your be fine an are u usin the td loom on the 300 engine or have u fitted the 300 loom in
-
am using the td loom as it was easier than trying to wire in the 300 loom, its all wired up now, and working, the alternator was faulty, hence why it wasnt working i thought i had it wired correctly

last one we did we had to put another earth on the alt to get battery light to work alt would charge battery without earth lead on but battery light wouldnt come on without it lol
