Hi Guys,
Was at Tixover yesterday, everytime I was going down steep hills and drops the engine would cut out!!!!! It would restart but only when on level ground, I had just over half a tank of fuel.
Any suggestions on this?

What engine? if petrol is it carbs of EFi?

Sorry, it's a 300 tdi

On a TDi then I'd say check the fuel filters for sludge/air/water. Does it stumble then die or cut out quickly, could it be electrical?

It dies very quickly, as soon as you reach a good angle (not nose on the ground sort) it just cuts out. I did manage to get it started once, it lasted about 5 seconds then died again. Can't see it being electrical but hey, who knows. Could it be a fuel pick up problem?

Hi i had a few customers complain of this, every time we check for this we find that in the tank there is a plastic fuel bowl that the sender sits in, this comes off its mounts and allows air to be drawn up while on an angle, we changed the tank on both motors never happened again, Hope this helps :police:

most likly the sediment filter full of crap and water, my 300tdi was cutting out after roundabouts and hard braking and was that

hes talking about angles off road not braking hard, most likly what i said before

Those bowls are often fitted to ensure that if you run the tank empty the 1st gallon of fuel is held around the fuel pick up as well as to prevent fuel starvation with the fuel sloshing around (even in normal driving). If it comes loose I'd imagine it being more trouble than it's worth, the position is quite critical.
Have you tried it with a very full tank?
