Title: Misfire under load - V8i
Post by: hodgei on April 13, 2010, 09:07:50
Guys,

I need some help diagnosing an issue I have with my '94 (MA) V8i.

I drove down to Limerick over the weekend and all was well until halfway into the return.
I filled up with fuel ( Shell ) and an hour later started to get misfiring under load and loss of power.
It got gradually worse until I pulled over to take a look.

Stop the truck - switch off and get out - nothing loose or too hot - fire it back up and it's running sweetly.
Take off with no problems - but 30 mins or so later it starts to misfire again.
Switch off the engine - count to 5 and start it again and I'm good to go for another 30 mins...

Coincidentaly, my SRS warning light started to come on - with the last "S" flashing - it flashes for a while and then goes solid on.

Anyone have any ideas - or access to a Testbook to plug the beast into?

Regards,

Iain.

Sounds like mine when the coil went.

:'( not the coil - replaced that and seems to be getting worse...

Very odd - drove 170 miles on Sunday - first 70 miles OK - then started to struggle

Last 45 miles, I had to stop and restart the engine every 5 miles or so

I'll try the fuel pump next

Keep you all posted on the investigations  8-[
