Title: Early 110
Post by: Chris Putt on April 20, 2010, 09:54:19
Have been offered a VERY early (Old Y plate) 110, its an odd old thing Its only ever done 62,000 miles from new (paperwork to prove?!)! The chassis is mint, has been waxolyled regularly from new and has only ever had two repairs to the rear crossmember! Its a 2 1/4 petrol, and has series doors. I have been offered it for £1500- just wondering what peoples thoughts are on Very early ones and whether its worth a punt? Then TDi-ing...........

Personally, if I had the spare cash I'd buy it and keep it standard. I doubt that there are many in that condition with all the original parts, and it's only going to go up in value if properly looked after.

Buy it at that price :-)  We have one (A reg). Entertaining buying parts for it. Some bits are series and other bits are defender. Ours was military spec but used by an electricity board which makes life even more interesting along with someone in the past had put a RR V8 in it.

Mine was an A reg V8 with the 4 speed LT85. It had a Fairey overdrive fitted which helped it's usability. I seem to remember it cost £1200, but it certainly wasn't mint and it was 7 or 8 years ago.

Some Yank will give you in excess of $10'000 if it's mint and original. that's about £6500 in real money.

Indeed. I have a contact in Florida who get's no end of enquiries about Series and early 90/110's. He currently deals with Mini's but is thinking of trying a few LR's.
