does anyone know how much an old mini cooper weighs?
and how much does it weigh with the engine, seats and doors removed? thanks, william.
-
a new shell weighs 175kg with the doors boot and bonnet we sell em at work
-
IIRC 850kg's all in.
It's been a while though ;)

Early ones were 1250lb (dry). Later ones were rather heavier.
Tel...... where do you work? I'm in the Mini parts industry.
-
they weigh a lot when they are on your foot! personal experience!
-
The heavy bits are the front and rear subframe (with the engine in the front).
That engine is a sodding heavy lump too with the gearbox hanging off it - dislocated my shoulder twice lifting one of them out of my old mini!
-
Twice? I thought you would have learnt the first time and got a hoist! :P
-
Lifted out a few mini engines in my time, much easier with a glass fibre lift off front.

When I was a lad I tried moving by 'wheel barrow-ling' a mini engine that was still complete in the front subframe with wheels on and everything. It moved about 2 foot before the wheels toe'd inwards causing the whole top heavy engine to flip over forwards and bringing up in a prefect arc the gearselector shaft right under my chin in a knock out punch that probably exceeded that of a heavy weight boxer. Still can feel the floaty chip of jaw bone chip to this day.
