Hey guys. I would like to raise my disco up about 2-4 inches. My disco has air bag suspention so was wondering if this is still possiable and if anyone had done it?
If it is what is involved and how much does it cost?
Thanks

Hi Sammy we had a D2 with alloy spaces front and back plus +2inch shocks all round drove like a dream and never had any problems with the air system, alot of people are to quick rip it all off and fit springs but at the time we were using the motor to do a lot of towing and the air suspension was great with the heavy loads if you have a good working air system don't bother changing it just yet ;)

Except you have to replace the airbags every 5 years!

Mine were on air bags till compresser died so I decided to buy the cheapest lift kit I could it gave me 2 inch lift at the time now the new ness has worn off it's about standard height again guess you get what you payfor spend a few quid on it
New motto is pay pea nuts get monkey

I bet you bought britpart!
-
so is your advice not to? that case then diff protectors then lol
-
Personally? Scrap the airbags, decent spring conversion. i.e bearmach

ok so if i were to have the air bags taken out and sprins put in. will there be much diffrence in the comfort of the ride and how much are we looking at?

When I had air bags I found it really hard on the backend with the springs on it's alot better ride but now I've found when I put the trailer on it seams to tow best with only about 20-30 kg of nose weight n the trailer is about 3 tons
Yea I think they were britpart talkin of them they can't make a gasket that seals
Rant over

20kg noseweight for a 3 tonne trailer
One good reason to keep the EAS I think. Personally I agree that it can be a hard ride (though its' supposed to be the opposite) but my LSE handles briliantly on it.

My disco is heading the same way, trying NOT to mod it but ive had it 5 or 6 years now, must be time for something other than the roof tent and some spots!
Ive had no problem with my airbags in 5 years, but then i dont really use it off road and its only done 50k from new. I do find the air suspension to be fantastic for towing with though, especially with the boot loaded up with the caravan awning and a few tinnies! maybe i should just stick some General AT's on the 18" rims and keep the jimny for the mad stuff !

Mines an `03 plate, done just over 60k and just recently the airbags have started giving me problems. After a rough track, park it up and half hour later the bag on one side totally vents and it sits on the axle..... now i must admit i do give it some stick, but its a landy and its meant to get stick, right? So, its looking like new airbags..... it does re-inflate on start-up, but i dont think it lifts it to origonal ride height as i sometimes smack the tow-bar on the ground in places where it didnt before

The ride height is controlled by a ride height sensor, if it's working properly it should go back to the same height. Also it should extend to give you more clearence, the rear overhang on ther D2 is pretty big.

Maybe its just me then!

I liked the air suspension because it always sat level no matter how much junk I had in the back or what I were towin

Could not agree more and with the ACE fitted it always handled really well when the wife let me drive it :-$ That was until i put it shiny side down on the M5 last year

Oh dear Mike! So now your only allowed a pushbike?

They are no sports car by anyones standards but with the ACE there's very little if any body roll the mrs bought a disco 1 v8 she had it less than a month because the roll on it made her feel sick sold it and bought a disco 2 v8 on LPG with ace fitted she drives like a loonatic n says it's better than the Clio sport she had befor it the air is acting up on that I'll prob scrap it n lift it on 2 inch springs
