Title: oil coming out of the transfer box breather?
Post by: frosty on May 09, 2010, 21:51:45

last weekend i noticed my transfer box front output seal was leaking so i ordered a replacement seal to fit today and kept an eye on the levels, however at the end of a 25 mile trip home yesterday i noticed that oil as spewing out of the transfer box breather as well as the output seal..any ideas why?

 cheers, james

very odd and ive no idea why...

ive now replaced the leaking front seal and the 90 ran fine on the 10 min trip to work this morning however on the way home i stopped to pick up one of the kids and i could smell burning oil (which i presume is from the oil escaping from the breather dripping onto the exhaust) and when i went to pull away there was lots of juddering and when i parked up 2 minutes later there was a lot of fresh oil, all of which came from the breather...now im really miffed..any help would be great

Breather, do you mean the pipe in the engine bay?
