Title: knocking noise from gearbox area

knocking noise coming from gearbox/clutch area not engine [ knocking in 1st 2rd 3rd ] gears ok in 4th 5th and revearse  drives ok apart from knocking noise please help its a 200tdi  :huh:

Not knowing how fast it knocks, whether it's just whilst moving etc my first guess is a chipped tooth in the gearbox.

my 90 makes sum thing like that hope int a bit snapped just had new box put in lol

Is it when you are pushing clutch in? could be the prop shaft uj bearing . Get underneaf and give it a wiggle [-o<

Clutch release bearing possibly. Although this normally dissapears when the clutch is depressed.

I had a very similar noise on my disco when i got underneath it was the front prop uj. major wear!

mine didnt make the noise all the time just when taking up tension in the drivetrain.
