Hi there,
I had a little incident today and unfortunately it ended up with a Pug 207 with a very squashed front end and my 300tdi lying on it's side on a veyr busy road!
I had my moneys worth out of the public services. I had 5 police vans, 2 fire engines, 2 ambulances and a paramedic plus two recovery trucks and a crane!
From what I could see, although I wasn't thinking straight, the damage is as follows....
Front drivers indicator smashed, and bumber cracked
Left mirror cracked
Left doors with some minor scratches
What I want to know is whether or not there might be other damage that isn't obvious? Could any damage have been done when it was unceremoniously dumped back on four wheels? What about the engine? I managed to switch it off after about 10 seconds on it's side.
Are the insurance company likely to write it off? It's a standard 98 plate auto which was in pretty good nick.
I'll try and go to the pound tomorrow and get some pictures.
Cheers.

As long as it wasn't run dry, which you say it wasn't it should be fine :-k
The "write-off" will be judged between the value of the car & the cost of the damage, I'd have thought with the vehicle and damage you desribe, you should be OK [-o< :D

...but, HOW did it happen? (Hope no one was hurt).

I was pulling out a junction and the next thing I knew I was on my side, I have no recollection of seeing the 207 unfortunately.
The driver of the other car was very shook up (I would be too) but was taken to hospital to be checked out. The police phoned later to tell me she was ok. I was fine, climbed out and was just very shaken.
Lessons learnt!!

For a car to hit you with enough force to roll you over. There has to be a lot more damage than you've realised. If no body damage is visible. I'd suggest that she must have hit your front wheel, and I'd have a very good look at front axle/suspension etc on the side you were hit from.

My mate skidded his '96/'97 D1 off the road on some ice, demolishing a road sign as he went off the road. Not much damage appart from a couple of body panels. The insurance company wrote it off and paid out about £4k at the time, he then bought it back off them for £1k and repaired it himself  Had to have it re MOT'd as it had been CatD written off but it passed that with ease and he had about another 3 years out of it before buying a D3 earlier this year.

Oh, er. If you said the same thing to the police, they might charge you with DWODCA.
