Title: TD5 into a 300tdi Defender
Post by: Saffy on May 20, 2010, 16:21:44
Do not recall ever seeing a thread on that subject, how come? TD5 must be fairly common and affordable breaker priced by now, can a 300tdi model defender be retro fitted with a td5? What would be the parts list? Whats difference between TD5 disco and defender? Is there a thread here or anywhere?

main gearbox needs to be replaced obviously engine aswell.
looms will need changing and then theres the issue of fuel pump.
personally with both of my 90's i modified the origional underslung tank.
i love the td5's and wouldnt go back to tdi's again.
my winch challenge motor was transformed when it was fitted
and my road 90 that tow's it about was also transformed, no more mauling the guts off it, it just gets on with it no hassle.
give me a ring between 6-10 at night if you want and detailed info

oh, disco and defender engines are the same just like 300tdi's
its just the pipework thats different, discovery pipework is made up of steel and rubber hose, defender is all rubber.
