Title: fitting a torque convertor

yes its me again!!!!
when i fit my convertor to the gearbox is it just a case of slipping it on all the way or am i looking for some kind of locking noise

hi, everyone is trying to help but it is very hard when you are posting threads all over the shop, not being funny, but if you were this clueless about doing the work on the motor, why did you start, you would have been better off getting professional help from the start. As i said, not being funny, just an observation. :rolleyes:

not clueless  just not used to land rovers thats all but thanks for your comment anyway ,just 15 yrs since my city and guilds diploma thats all
and i do thank all for trying to help its just time and the hope to get it on the road again that brings me to ask you guys ,who knows maybe i will know something that you need !!

Yep, just a matter of slipping it on, you need to slide it on the 2 splines then make sure the lugs are located properly for the oil pump. Turn it round making sure it has located fully.  The oil pump lugs are very important as i've seen a couple of people not do this and force the engine + box together destroying the pump resulting in fitting a new gearbox.

Just read the gearbox woes thread. Sounds like the pump has been destroyed already?

replaced the box and convertor and followed your instructions all done thanks for the reply now to put it all back again
