Title: bah - web companies that advertise stuff they don't stock
Post by: Saffy on June 07, 2010, 17:32:37
Get's on my tits. Advertise non existent stock and then go procure it when a customer places an order.
Ripped out the rear of my truck in anticipation of receiving the order of a storage solution from DEVON4x4 to find it doesn't exist. I know it's a Mantec discontinued product that why I went with devon4x4 because it's there on their website,  else I would have gone directly to mantec in first place      They haven't had one in stock or over a year... BLAH. Just wish these web traders would put up stock levels, backorders, non-stock items etc on individual items so then the customer can see that and  plan ahead.
On plus side I was informed promptly and got a call and refunded but still I can have a moan especially when I not getting new bolt on toy and it passed Mrs clearance and everything  :'(
Sorry if I was a bit offish on the phone Jake but I could see this coming after I got the non-stock email and your call woke me up from a nap :(

Saffy, i hate being the bearer of bad news and i do totally understand your grumbling.
As i said on the phone, most of our suppliers let us know when products have been discontinued.  I only put them on the website a few months back (after we sold a couple of sets for some expedition builds we did in house), i even asked the supplier for the price and for the pictures we used.
Then, we get told the 07 onward version had been discontinued when we tried to order some (no mention to us of the lack of pre 07 version btw) then i try to order your set to find out the pre 07 has also been discontinued too.
When we change/discontinue a D44 product we always notify our dealers so that their customers don't get disappointed, its good business.
I will mention the stock/back order idea to our web development team and see if that can be intergrated into our site.
I'm very sorry for your disapointment in our service, i just hope it hasn't tarnished our reputation with you.

It's okay cheers, I'll get over it... I haven't deleted devon4x4 off my favorites.
If my welder hadn't died I would maybe have a go at making something similar myself though it would have to be 1inch grill and angle iron rather than press cut cage. Wish someone else made it - would be prefect storage solution for me.

I know someone with one of those in a 57 plate 110. It might be for sale soon!! As he has got a Land Cruiser now. But I donot think it will fit a pre 57 plate 110?

I will ask tomorrow, as I will see him tomorrow.

But the seat boxes in the newer tdci are not the same,  so it might just sit lower.
