Title: 300tdi ABS problems again...
Post by: spy on June 13, 2010, 15:27:51
I am having a nitemare with my discovery ABS light. I have only just got it and it came with the bulb removed.  Unfortunately my friendly MOT tester is on the ball and noticed the light doesnt illuminate (which is also a fail).  I have since put the bulb back in and now its driving me nuts.

I have read all about the blink codes paperclip test etc but I just cant get it to work.  I have remved the relay (at least I think I have) and shorted the two pins on the 16 pin diagnostic socket.  It just doesnt flash?

I have checked continuity from pin 14 right up to the abs ecu behind the glove box.  I have also checked continuity between pins 4 & 5 and earth.  What am I doing wrong?

Out of desperation I labeled all the relays and plugs in the drop down relay holder thing behind glovebox and pulled them all off.   Paperclip test still doesnt make my abs light start to blink!

Any tips?  I could really do with a retest now and this is the only nitemare holding me back!

Cheers,

Mike

Well, some progress has been made!  I found a blown use and I now have blink codes.  The problem is its not in the list of faults!  2-1 I am getting!  Anyone any ideas?

this site... http://www.rswsolutions.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=18&Itemid=76 suggests it's an ECU internal failure.

Thanks for your help but Ive sorted it!  Wiring break to OSR wheel speed sensor.  Decided to forget the fault codes and just start looking.  Checked resitance at all 4 sensors, 924ish at 3 of em and complete break to the final.  Found a break where it runs across the rear axle, joined em back up and its off on its own!

Now I just noticed that the sidelamps flash with the brake lights!  Obviously nothing to do with abs sensor but its back out with the old multimeter -  I will get a bloody MOT tomorrow!

Thanks again!

Mike

Earth fault in the rear light cluster or the towbar wiring.
