I'm contempating swapping my V8i out for a Tdi of some description.
Has anyone had any issues with DVLA / Road Tax / MOT's after a swap?
Regards,
Iain.

As long as you tell the DVLA (to update your V5) and your insurance you should be okay. You may need a new MOT as the emissions regs are different for the two fuels. Not sure about that one though.

You will need an engineers report as well, had loads of hassle over that one!!!!

The DVLA are a pain in the arse. I sent my V5 back asking for a change of colour and change to diesel. I sent in pictures and a covering letter giving the details of the disco the tdi came out of etc etc. It went missing in the post apparently.
I sent it all over again and they changed the colour but sent it back as a petrol. I rang up and they claim to have sent me a letter asking for an RAC \ AA inspection or a receipt for the fitting of the engine by a garage or an insurance report.
I knocked up a letter saying "we have inspected the following vehicle and can confirm the engine number is now blah, capacity of 2495cc" etc etc and got it printed on the garages letterheaded paper and signed. Its back in the post so fingers crossed this is the end of it!

A mate had some issues with this!
He bought a Discovery for spares, registered it in his name and removed the various parts and sold some.
He kept the engine for a project of his own and sent the documents for this project in to have the engine changed over. He then sent the papers in to scrap the Discovery.
The scrapping was confirmed, but they sent the project docs back asking for a receipt for the engine!! He wrote back pointing out that he already owned the engine as the original vehicle was registered in his name!! This went back and forth for a couple of months until he got fed up and wrote to the Chief Exec!! The docs arrived back inside a week with the new engine details on them!!
