I have been considering a new name for the 110. As everyone refers to it as The Ambulance I have decided on Hawkeye (the chap out of MASH). What do we think?
-
Not funny :?

Not funny :?
Why?
-
seems like a good idea  that was a damn good program, so if its a damn good truck - then why not
-
Coz it didn't make me laugh :-)
I also don't have a mental picture of us all standing in a field shouting "here comes Guy in hawkeye" ...ooohh that said it rhymes...nice, keep it
-
'Hawkeye' is a damn good name for it. I think.
On the theme of the best ever American medical series, put some furry dice in it & call it 'Klinger' (they could be his earrings  )
Wesley; In tribute to the Landy driving star of 'Last Of The Summer Wine'
And we all know someone with a wife like Edie (she of the newspapers on the floor   ), well I do, my mates wife's like that!

MASH never made me laugh. I couldn't call it Major Burns could I?
-
Guy...listen out on Sunday morning, you'll hear me coming up the A5199 on channel 30 shouting "come in hawkeye, do you copy?" :(biggrin):

Not a good idea he kept breaking down, physically, mentally, totally
-
Niiiiiice, greaaaaaaaaat (in the style of The Fast Show).
-
Hawkeye sounds good to me Guy 8) .
-
Hawkeye is a good name. MASH is one of the funniest shows from the US. Besides, its not the usual sort of name for a 110, so be different \:D/ If you didn't like Major Burns how about Major Money Pit, Major Repairs or Major Mud, etc. etc. :?
-
Right. Hawkeye it is
-
Like it
:D
-
why not call it "rumble" after the wheel bearings!!

how do you do it. you must use more bearings than fuel

I do how it says in the book. If you tighten them as it describes they are too loose and have play in them after a few miles. If you ignore it and tighten them up then they bind and fall to pieces. I can't find the bit where there is no play but they are not binding. Iain never changed the bearings in 4 years. There was no grease in them and they were as tight as they could be.
I can't see how it done
-
So why don't we have an article from Guy in the members workshop section on wheelbearings ?
-
I just tighten mine up tight so theres no play and so that the wheel moves freely. oh and plenty of grease.
you need to make sure that the inner race is on properly otherwise that can cause play to develop as it works its way up the stub axle and seats properly.
Next time u do a wheel bearing Guy takes lots of pics and give us a blow by blow write up on here. we could all do with a laff!

I like hawkeye suits you and the landie mate.
you're certanly not RADAR material or FATHER MULCHAEY or wouldn't have hit the tree or given the wheel bearings there last rites.
stick with HAWKEYE if us ask us nicely we'll have rip round for you and buy the sticker for you.
