Ok so this might be in the wrong section but since no one goes in the nissan section i thought i would put it here for a quick help.
the engine is an intercooled 2.7td nissan. I was out last night playing in mud and water and now it is lagging like hell upto 2.5k then all goes as normal. Have i wrecked something or do i just need to steam clean the engine bay/intercooler?
Any help appreciated.

Sounds turboey. Stuck bypass valve or seized turbo? Did you get water in the engine? Is the air filter wet?
-
No water in the engine and the air filter is dry. plenty water over the engine as there is an air scoop in the bonnet for the intercooler.
Will have to get someone more qualified than me to check it out.

Your intercooler may have got gunked up on the outside, but that won't affect the engines operation in the manner
you described. Bathing a red-hot turbo that spins at upto 200,000 rpm in cold, muddy water might just have damaged
it. Good luck.

Sounds like a fuelling issue to me. If it was turbo related it would change the RPM it bogged at depending on how much load it was under.

I've had the same symptoms as described above when the wastegate pipe was kinked - no pull until high
engine rpms.
