Whats the best way to get the drain plug out of the bottom ? I've snapped the plastic tab of it ( duuuuhh) am I rite in thinkin I can gently drill a hole in the plastic getting bigger each time till it collapses in on itself ???
Or any1 have a better idea??

do away with it there too much hassel

I think a 12-13mm bolt goes down through the middle... i took the whole thing off and its sealed again with no leaks or hastle. I didnt fancy touching the plastic tab.

How hard is it to do away with it??

its an 11m bolt through the middle, just cleaned mine out

i was close

its easy to just clean it out, 1 bolt, you will want to keep it when u see how much crud it catches

The 300s were meant to have done away with the sedimentor in favour of a deeper section at the bottom of the fuel filter in it's place, I guess to lower service consts or because no-one bothered cleaning the sedimentor.
Well they soon started fitting them again!
So can someone clear this up, what's this bolt that runs through the middle? is that what holds the bowl on or something and do I take this out? I ask because I found our 30 has got one, not where I expected it and I found it under a massive ball of muck whilst I had the floor out of the boot. I suppose I ought to clean it out

on my 96 disco it held the bowl on. I undid the bolt and gave it a little tap and the bowl came down, as above its sealed up nice. When i took it apart nothing fell out or sprung across the workshop was just literally a bowl with fuel in it.

i took the bolt out and the bowl was stuck on with the seal, so i gave it a tap it came off and covered me in diesel  . i had to scrape aload of crap out the bottom it was all gritty, and was at least half full of water :? . i doubt it was cleaned in the last few years if at all

 Now I think I understand, you take the whole bowl off rather than remove the plastic bung.
Thanks guys
