i assume you talking the 500ml aerosols,
im repainting my 90 with them, in maroon though but so long as the prep is good and you don't rush it it should be ok,
thats what i keep telling myself

I used their custom-mixed aerosols for my alloys, it's good paint but might be a bit expensive for a complete vehicle. That said, I will be using it to tidy up some scruffy bits if I get a few days of predictably dry weather (rather than the current situation where it chucks it down if I so much as look for my gloves and goggles so I can break out the grinder and rotary wire brush attachment!)

matt black can be a pig to live with mind, my s1 was matt black and it so easily picked up grease, mud dust stains and generally went grey and needed a recoat every few months... imagine driving around what is basically a black chalk-board in Wiltshire! Came to a point of better repainting rather than bothering to wash it, I even created made to fit reusable masking panels so I could blow over truck quickly each time.

cheap compressor is about

satin looks alot better, much nicer finish, did mine with halfords own brand satin spray. no runs and no orange peel flat as you like.

Wouldn't it be as cheap to invest in an electric spray gun?

I have a gravity fed gun that came with our compressor! Problem is I've not had anything to do with mixing and spraying in that way before, but thinking about it it would be a whole lot cheaper to do it like that.

My old range rover done matt black with a tin of outdoor paint from the builders merchant and a roller.

Go satin not matt !

Used to have a matt black MU - it was never clean again after painting it.... can't get the dirt off matt paint.
