Title: New toy ordered.... October build!
Post by: LiftedDisco on August 28, 2010, 19:44:20
 :D  :D  :D

Need to cart around all sorts of stuff for work - theodolite, PPE and such like, so I have managed to persuade myself that I need a van when the company car is due for renewal... not least as I can just about get a van onto the Olympic site, whereas a car is a complete no-no!

So what sort of van?

Discovery 4 Commercial....

...and I've managed to swing it that I can have the 245bhp version!

Supposedly due in late November as they build it as a car and then 'backwards engineer' it to become a Commercial...

How are the commercials re Bulk heads/Load restraints?

Id NEVER have a van/commercial that diddnt have a lot of protection between me and flying kit in the event of an accident. Im sure there is a lot of after market stuff but what can you get on it from the factory?. I saw a D3 with various load/window guards on ant it looked very tough indeed.

Also thereis the Anti theft angle as well?

Big substantial full height bulkhead - solid at the bottom and mesh above shoulder height... this is bolted into the original mounting points for the (now missing) rear seats.

Phenolic ply liner throughout to include load restraint hooks.

Windows are all covered with a black ABS material that takes loads of abuse - prevents any view in (and has to be said, any view out over your shoulder at junctions!)

Proper bits of kit!
