Title: Heater Switch LR 90
Post by: robbie on August 31, 2010, 13:40:04
Does anyone know where I can get hold of a heater slider switch for a 1984 '90?? I cannot see one listed on Paddocks or Rimmers. It is deffo faulty, I have checked all the wiring and temp made the fast blow work by swapping the slow/fast leads over.

Also, what is the pull wire for attached to the switch?? No mention of that anywhere either  :-k

Ta in advance

when you push the fan switch full down beyond 0 then the cable pulls closed the external intake *storm* flap, it's to help stop water ingress into the heater box during wading  ;), water coming in through wing top vent then exits via the drain hole that's located just before the storm flap.

I have a spare switch for sale but it comes complete with the heater box/fan etc

Thanks for the info re the cable. Not something I will be using often then :)

As for the switch itself, I think I might rewire it and put just a standard switch in the centre console. I dont think the switches are brill anyway... But thanks for the offer :)

As well as operating the cable for the main inlet flap for the heater the sliding heater-switch on the dash incorporates the resistor for the 2-speed fan so by replacing it with a normal switch you will have high-speed only.

New assembly is part number STC4848 at

Not on any of mine, the resistor is in the Heater unit :-#..... Thats why its such a pain when it dies, you have to get the drill out and attack all the rivets......

Sorry, yes that's UTP1281. I should know better as I had mine out about 8-years ago (only four rivets though as I recall?) . Anyway, at
