Hi
I have got a 1998 3.9efi disco now running lpg. I went for multi point as i am running a snorkel (Tinley tec Bigas SGIS kit)
Just wondering if there is any cheapish fixes at getting more power out of it??
How much would it cost to get it chipped and would it work with the lpg system?
Is it worth trying to get more power out of lpg??
cheers

YES!! Petrol, and a match! Then buy a decent motor!

Change the cam?
As I understand the sequential systems have there own ECU can you not plug it in and set it up for more power bias setings?

Very helpful and constructive ;)

Thanks mate!! Rob, If you ran a K&N filter, straight through exhaust, and direct cold air from under the front valance (ie. remove the snorkel, remove the lights, towbar etc. They all cause DRAG)
And to finish off, go to halfrauds, buy a chavvy spoiler and whack that on somewhere!
Only messing mate. You have a lovely car there, if only I had a V8 disco..... Wait, I do!!
Just put up with it as is. If it works, dont fix it!

but i want more power lol
it is way down on gas, press the button for petrol it flys (sometimes)
i think i might have a prob with the petrol side as well as sometimes it smells really ritch when it is hot :-.
Think i will have to hook the laptop up again just need to find someone who no's what they are doing it is a bit trial and error atm.

Hi.
I would look at getting your current setup sorted before looking at changing items to extract more power. You say it is down on power whilst on gas, so is it getting the right amount of gas and enough air? Is the ignition timing set right to work correct when running on gas?
A 3.9 with the correct setup will go like stink on LPG when setup right. It is boring work but going through all basics in an afternoon might just highlight a problem in the system. Could be the elbow between the MAF sensor and the plenum has split, or the timing is out, or the rotor arm / cap is worn, the plugs are not gapped right. Little things not running at 100% can add up to a lot of power loss.
Happy hunting.

best way to improve power on a v8 is to fit a lairy camshaft even a new oe camshaft will make a massive differance to a worn cam
mapping or chipping is a waste of money on a standard v8 specially seeing as the ecu is redundant while you are running on gas

On mine ive fitted a better cam, stage 2 heads and headman headers (from tuner V8) depending on the miles your motor has done a top end rebuild might make a world of difference. There is a huge selection of cams available ive gone for one that gives more torque at low end.
Also ive changed the ignition to megajolt which allows you to run two ignition maps, one for petrol and one for LPG (also makes my V8 waterproof!)

Start by getting it set up properly, make sure it is firing 100% especiually on LPG.
Fit a new cam chain and set the valve timing up properly before throwing money at a new cam. A chip will be around
