Title: WARNING to all in Northants
Post by: Big Rich on October 24, 2010, 16:24:10
Today between 12.30 and 2pm someone removed my sanky hitch from my discovery parked in my drive. They must have known it was on it as my vehicles are all backed in! Just to warn you all remove your hitches and other bits that are easy to get off your cars.

Might be worth hiding or bolting down all the sankeys in the area too.

did you have it on a dixon bate sliding hitch or was it bolted direct to the car?

It was a sliding dixon bate.

If you have any bushes/undergrowth around then have a quick nose in there - it might just be some pathetic little specimen who finds it amusing to tamper with people's possessions. Had a few problems back in 6th form with moronic rat-faced 9th year who thought it was funny to steal valve caps (and doubtless fling them into bushes).

It just strikes me as a rather odd thing to pinch. I know scrap prices are high but would they really think it worth the risk of a beating (more likely than a decent judicial punishment methinks!) to get a few quid from a dodgy scrappy?

Not sure if it'll work on a Dixon Bate, but I've got one of these to secure my drop plate in the 2" receiver -> http://www.trimaxlocks.com.au/store/receiver-locking-pins.html

Got it in the USA while I was there, but you can get them shipped over quite cheaply

I take my slider off each time I'm not towing so it cant be stolen as I think they are high profile pinchable things.
