Hi, will a 1992 200Tdi gearbox fit into a 1994 300 Tdi?
-
Yes.
I can't remember if you can fit the R380 mounts to the LT77, or if you need to nab an LT77 gearbox crossmember for the center-mount.

Hello Dude,
Yes you can, I have done the opposite, you just need to change some dowels for studs, vise versa. Check the prop has enough strech in it, get rid of the rubber doughnut if not!

I have done exactly that. I did have the cross member so it was easier but the mounts do swap over on the transfer box and all the holes are there for both 'flavours'.
You will also need to swap in the handbrake mechanism and speedo sender from the 300 box as they are both different than the 200, most noteably the 300 has an electronic sender for the speedo.

I would think twice about doing this the r380 is a much beter gearbox I have gone through 2 lt77s now with proper oil and maintanace the shafts are just not up to it. there is a way of reconing the lt77 and drilling a gear or somthing to get them to last longer im still looking into it myself

reputedly the later lt77s is a good strong unit, if you can find one.
