is it common for insurers to not offer european cover on cars over 10 years old?

Dunno in general but my car is a '97(P) and thats covered by Swinton to include 30 days Euro cover even with a 24 year old named driver  ;)

I've got 35 days Euro Cover and Euro Breakdown Cover on mine. It's a 1963......

Tell your insurance company you are going elsewhere.... they will soon include it! If they don't someone else will. They are in the business of keeping your business and they will do all they can to do so if you threat to leave.

I was contacted by my insurance people today, and at first they wanted to update the details of the Disco. I told them that the value had dropped, that I was no longer using it for work related matters, and then the [!Expletive Deleted!] said that my payments were going up from

Road insurance or breakdown insurance?

I've never heard of insurers not offering normal road insurance in Europe for older vehicles, but many breakdown policies have age limits.
