Hello can anyone tell me what sort of job is it to change the front diff on a disco. I have done a rear one but all the steering and half shafts etc are a little more involved. Is it a job to have a go at or not and do i need any special tools. Thanks in advance.

Not much different to the rear, except you have more bits to remove.
The simplest way is to remove the entire axles ends where they join the axle casing and slide the whole thing.. hub, halfshaft and all out of the way. It's heavy, but it saves you having to strip the hubs.
You might need a balljoin splitter to disconnect the steering linkages, but that is about it as far as special tools go.

That's great Tim thanks, that's realy what i wanted to here. Was not sure if i could do that or if i had to strip right down. :D

If you don't want to do it on your own you could pop up one day and I'll give you a hand (read practice on yours before I do mine :D ).
Did you get a diff yet? I have 2 sat in the garden, still in axles.
