Title: I Don't believe it
Post by: Kenny on May 15, 2005, 17:46:48
Every time I post on here I have a problem, and yes guess what I have another one.

Taking the steering guard off, and there is a huge bolt on the left hand side looking from the front that secures the steering mechanism to the chassis as well as the guard. I know it undoes as I put the guard on, trying to taek it off though and the bolt head snapped off.

Using another bolt I have tried to knock out the remainder of the bolt with a mallet, no chance, it just will not budge.

Any thoughts how I can get this thing out....

TIA

Damian

I have had the same problem with mine, I used excessive heat to nock the bolt through after a good soak with the old PLUS GAS!!. just be aware that you can melt the steering unit seals if you are on the near side.

Becareful and drill it out no problem on any melt down then.
Or just use a cable tie to replace it .
Have land rover cable tie will travel.
