just changed clutch in 200 tdi also ended up replacing spigot brg rear main oil seal and transfer box imput shaft oil seal. it was in a very oily condition so bit of a guess weather this was the right diagnosis.all back together but still getting oil running from between gearbox and transfer box. breathers clear ,help anyone got any ideas .didnt want to strip as i have no spec or diagrams...bilge rat

You may have to live with it then. I understand that the T-Box is sealed to the back of the gearbox as they ae assembled (with sealer, obviously) to prevent, well, something. The gerabox and T-box oils should not mix and are separeted by the gearbox rear oil seal I think. If the oil is coming from between the 2 I'd think it was a gasket.

think you might be right might have to live with it, had another look today it appears to be leaking from some sort of main shaft which goes right through the traansfer box about half way up .on the back side by transmission brake theres a big bolt but the opposite end (where its leaking) i cant see any way of sealing it ?,i think i might need a dealers w\shop manual or something..bilge rat.........
