Title: Rear Diff Seal

I've changed the rear diff seal on the 110 (Sailsbury axle). It is still weeping a little oil but also smelling of burning rubber.

The diff also feels very hot just around the when the seal would be and this heat is transferring to the prop UJs.

Any thoughts? The old seal was leather which had perished. the new seal is a rubber one.

Guy,
I was trying to change the same seal this morning. I removed the rear prop, took the nut and spacer off the rear axle, but how do you remove the flange?
BTW, the replacement seal I have is leather?

I wonder if I have the right seal. They look the same. Do you know what part number yours was?

I got the flange off by carefully tapping around the edges until it came loose. It was a tight fit on the splines.

that's the part number I got as well. Not leather like Ollie thou.

As unlikely as this may seem, I may have fitted it wrong I guess :lol:  :lol:  :lol:  :shock:  :shock:  :shock:

Nah!! Thinking about ti, that's just not possible :wink:

Does anyone know a good source of diff parts?

Ive got a pile of diffs broken and if I could order the parts I'd fix them.

Any ideas????

Well Ive got loads of bits too but I would like to repair the diffs with new parts.

I was just wondering if you can get brand new bits.  The new bits must be WAY stronger then the bodging of two broken ones like Im doing now.

Just seems a waste to have a pile 90 and RR diffs heading fro scrappy.

Sorry mate.  Being a bit slow......

The sun wheels and pins keep blowing and the planetry gears.  Basically the internals of the diff.  Only ever broken a crown wheel once and a pinion once.

Running an ARB on the rear now so I probably wont need them for my own (especially as Im thinking about a trutrac fro the front) but I could probably sell the diffs on to club members once fixed.
