i have 2 keyfobs from my old discovery and i have been told that i can set them to operate my other discovery by using the following instructions
any ideas please???????????????
1)Starting conditions: ignition off, doors unlocked, bonnet switch depressed.
2)Steps 3 to 9 MUST be carried out within 8 seconds.
3)Switch ignition ON.
4)Switch ignition OFF.
5)Lock doors.
6)Unlock doors.
7)Release bonnet switch.
8)Switch ignition ON.
9)Switch ignition OFF.
If alarm is correctly accessed, the horn will sound and LED will light. It is now possible to programme two handsets of correct frequency to vehicle alarm ECU.
This must be carried out within two minutes.
10)Press and hold down button on first handset until dash LED flashes.
11)Repeat instruction for second handset.
12)The LED will extinguish if both handsets have been initialised correctly.

Hi,
That sounds about right.
If you have any problems, contact "Remotekey".
They have a web site I think.

Has anyone actually managed to follow those instructions and program a remote? :?
Tried 3 times but couldn't get the horn to sound/led to light :(

Is there a way to program the immobiliser not to work - ie to disarm the immobiliser?
I ask because last week I was stuck for over an hour when the immobiliser kicked in after I had
Used fob to unlock
Opened rear door
Accidentally used fob to lock while rear door open
Closed rear door
Used fob to unlock
Tried ignition
The glow plug light flicked on and then stayed off
And wouldn't start
I tried locking and unlocking - all sorts
I tried the emergency key code thing
Then it must have thought I had got the code wrong three times and shut itself down for 30 minutes
In the end the key code thingh seemed to work.
I'd be happy to lose the immobiliser as I don't really think anyone will pinch a ten year old 2 door Disco
TIA

I think it can be done, but not sure how  Possibly a trip to a LR dealer...

That's not what my insurance company reckons with my 5 door! They wanted to know how many key fobs I had (luckily didn't actually ask whether they work or not  )
By the way, what happened to your 3rd door?

I know what you mean about insurers.
Hmm, trip to dealer = ££££ so I may have to live with it. I know someone who can work out how to bypass the wiring so I may just do that.
As for the third door that was the root cause of my problems I reckon so out comes the arc welder and 2 doors it is :D

hehe, surely you mean the angle grinder and make it a 2 door pickup :)
