Title: Alloy wheel thefts in Northampton
Post by: Thrasher on June 07, 2005, 10:45:02
There has been a spate of vehicles losing their alloy spares in Northampton this week. Please ensure your spare is either attached with a locking wheelnut, or some other security device.

not good - hope you haven't been got!

I really must get around to making some kind of locking device for mine, then again a 205 on a steel is not much target!

Piglet has a steel, behind a hi-lift, behind a padlock ;-)

talking of which I really must get a 235/85 as a spare as the size diff is proabably a bit much for anythign over 5 mph.

Keith, they do not make them any more, but I beleive Wizard on this forum makes a similar fitting, and that SYL (strapping young lad) or whatever he is called now was selling one here too....

Be aware that they are *DANGEROUS* and if you buy one, make sure you come and see one of us and we'll show you how to safely use one.

I could make you one too if you want.. what's the dangerous bit - making sure that everythin is bolted down properlly so it cant come loose?

Locking wheel nuts are all very well but when halfords sell locking wheel nut removal tools for peanuts it does make me wonder if they are any use.
