Title: Lighting regulations
Post by: xmob on June 09, 2005, 12:55:20
Are the any regulations on the physical size of things such as side lights and indicators?  Not intensity, physical size.

I guess there will be, and probably things like viewing angles, but I can't find anything anywhere.

I've just had a quick look through my law books and to be honest I couldn't find any mention of physical size, just the usual colours/symmetry etc.

I think common sense is the order of the day.

the main concern is not the size but the brightness

i guess you can only certain brighness repeater lamps etc, but headlights are a different story

There will be requirements for new car type approval, but I am not aware of any specific size requirements for existing cars.

So does that mean I can use indicator repeater lamps on the FRONT of my car then?  Obviously the side lights would be the clear lensed type with white bulbs.  :D
