i have just got my first disco ( j 1992 2,5 tdi ) and i have a problem with the indicator light on the dash.
the indicators work but when i use them the dash indicator light stays on and the light with the little trailer in flashes. and sometimes when im not indicating the dash light will flash or stay on for a couple of seconds this is not a problem as the external indicators are not flashing but it is very very annoying :x

I'm no good with electrics but when had problems in the past it's nearly always the earth. Have you got the electric for a tow bar :?:

As Dave says, it's gotta be an earth or towing electrics related problem.

Does the vehicle have a tow bar & electrics - if so, check the socket, it's probably full of mud/crud/dead spiders etc. Also trace the cable from the socket to where it joins the main harness - if someone has used 'scotchloks' to make the join, there might be a bad connection there.

Alternatively - maybe the flasher relay is about to flash its last ???

You can in fact get a HD flasher unit for towing, so it might be your original flasher relay is about to go  :?:

If the HD flasher unit wasn't already fitted there should be no connection to the trailer warning repeater. So, it could be the wiring PCB on the rear of the instruments that's doomed or the flasher unit.  Start with the flasher, it's the easiest to check.
