Yo,
Was speaking last night with a DOC member and he suggested that I added some Bonnet Pins.
Anyone have any info on suitable types, places to get, cost and how/where to fit?
Thanks!

Lots of motorsport shops and car accessory places (Purveyors of all Things Chav) now carry them. I paid 13 whole pounds for mine (and I needed them in a hurry!).

I have them fitted to the Discovery now as the cable / catch was a
bit iffy and it was a two man job to get the bonnet up.
Once you have fitted the bonnet pins remove the bonnet catch.
Something like this will do the job:

A fiver for postage!!
:-s They're kidding me, right? I paid the same price for mine at a Motorsport Event.
Try here - it'll be cheaper, and they have an address if it it all goes pear shaped.

If you've got a local Maccess they do them for around 6 or 7 quid.

Even Halfords do them - I was lucky and got a beautiful set of bright blue ones for a couple of quid in the sale!

Just remember that if you remove the bonnet pull and fit pins that anyone can steal your battery.

Cheers for this :)
I was thinking that Id leave the bonnet pull on anyway. Are there any special tricks for fitting that I should know about?

If you get stuck, I can get them trade price from my local supplier... postage wouldn't be very much either.
Choice of colours are avaliable.... 8) 8)

My Advice would be that if you are going to fit bonnet pins, do not leave the bonnet pull as well.
If you need to get under the bonnet in a hurry, you can get into all sorts of difficulty having to release the pins under tension, or the pins not allowing the pull to release properly.
What is the reason for the pins ?
I've heard a couple of stories about people's bonnets opening at speed, but to be honest I think they are exceptional circumstances.

on my 90 it still had the 2nd catch but that got lobbed in the bin when i took the motor over as it was a pain to open the bonnet with the light bar fitted, also got a notice inside to remember & put the pins in,dad drove the 90 up the street 1 night & had forgotten to put the pins in & got a surprise!!!

I have a set fitted which now enables my bonnet to lie flat shut as before the drivers side was raised.
Left the bonnet pull on too and never had a problem with both. I just apply some light pressure to the bonnet to release the pins the pull the bonnet latch and the bonnet pops up.
