Not just the fact of the particular case, but that the NCIS are trawling things like eBay. Maybe they are here also ????

It sounds nearly as crazy as the auction that Yorks police ran to sell equipment confiscated in a drugs raid.

They confiscated the hydroponics quipment used to grow cannabis.

A few months later the equipment was again confiscated as it had been bought by someone to grow... wait for it....

Cannabis.

You couldn't write it!

Sounds good Ed...  you get to catch criminals, and they pay you to do it :-)

Stretching it a bit, I know Tim, but what about the Police aiding and abetting an offence by selling the equipment if they sell it again and someone gets caught with it.

You might get away with entrapment or something... but in any case, they should be arrested for stupidity ;-)

Using stuff like that, bought from a Police auction for the same thing it was seized for

Did a service on a machine a few years ago and placed the waste oil in some clean 5 gall drums. Someone had nicked them within the hour

I like this quote at the end of the story Kenny linked to:
Quote
But she added: "Sometimes things do slip through the net."

My wise Dad always said that is frogs spawn slipped through the net to get a smaller net.

Wise words.
