Title: info on france
Post by: davidlandy on June 23, 2005, 21:17:07
Looking to go on a camping holiday with the family and some of the lads and their families to France.

does anybody know of any good (cheap) places were a tent can be pitched around the southern half of france ie from brittany downwards?ideally near the coast.

all of my websearches seem to end up with either a keycamp or eurocamp which charge the earth.

thanks

Depends what you're looking for Dave.

Try these

http://www.les-campings.com/gb/
http://www.francewebs.com/gb.html
http://www.charlesalexander.co.uk/?source=GAFrenchCampsites

Also, in my experience an hours drive to the coast is near enough and it should get a bit cheaper in land too.

HTH.

ive just returned from france (Drove too)

down to the alps.

we only bought two books

the michelin map of france (big n heavy but is quite detailed)

and the alan rogers book of camping in france

both from waterstones

the book gives you ratings on the campsites and how to get there from major roads.

if your part of camping and caravaning club you get a nice book with all the frence campsites.
I will pop it over next week if you like, you can contact the sites direct so shouldn't have troubles booking.

Only ever stayed in the mountains (Rhone and Provence Alps), so I can't really help there.

However, the Michelin mapbook, as already mentioned, is a must. Very detailed and very clear.

Soz I can't be of more help!

Cheers
