Where can i wire my worklight?
« on: August 14, 2005, 21:42:27 »
Hello ,
I'm about to wire in a worklight for the rear and was wondering where the best place to wire it in was , preferably without running wires throught the truck to the battery.
does anyone know if there are any permanent feeds in the rear of a 90?(2002)
Cheers
Darren

No, 'fraid not, mine is wired through the truck, put it in the gutter and you won't see it anyway.

There ought to be a permanant live near the 12N socket multi-pin (behind the off-side?) lamp access cover.

Now,if If I remember, there's a perm-live, reverse light feed & an earth (all for the 12S socket supply)

There is a large purple wire on most defenders at the back. You still need to run a wire to a switch in the front, unless you switch it at the rear of course. Dont forget ot fuse it.... :D

Well i will wire it in when it comes back from the dealers - it's been there nearly 2 weeks now - waiting for a throttle pedal.
Apparently they are having supplier problems   :?:

Found the permanent live - it is behind the o/s lamp cover -  a pos and neg already connected to a spare plug which is usefull.
Whats the best way to run the cable from the outside? - up behind the mounting bracket and through a hole (was going to mastic the back of the bracket if i did it this way) or a separate hole to the side of it through a grommit?

Mine is connected to the reverse light. Excellent as even when stopped I just put the car into reverse and hey prestor the light comes on.

Not much good however if the engine is running ;)

I would get hold of a rubber grommet, and drill o hole. Dont forget to leave a small sagging loop on the outside, so that water doesnt run into the hole. :D
