Winch question
« on: August 22, 2005, 10:49:39 »
I've been offered a winch.

It's a Superwinch OX on a Defender bumper.  It has no controls with it and is missing a few bits from the gearbox. Other than that, it looks in good condition.  The guy wants £100 for it.

What do you think. Is it easy to get parts for and is it worth having? :)

Thanks

BTW, the 'Part Number' is 92-52000 and it doesn't seem to have a Serial Number.

sorry mate i dont know enough to make that much of a comment. Looks very similar in design to warn 8274..never heard of ox. Can you got the parts you would need? The bumper looks fairly beaten up keep looking on ebay there are sometimes sensible things around.
If you can refurbish the bumper and winch for an extra 150 then it wouldnt be too bad.

It's a 1980's vintage.
Some were fitted to Camel Trophy vehicles.
I suppose you might have problems getting spares now.

I would inclined to leave it.

for £100 theres bound to be something better available that you can easily get spares for.

It might be worth a punt and then sell it on ebay. Anything Camel related flies out of the window on there. Then buy a new one with the proceeds.
