If it comes with a pre-paid response envelope I'll tear it up & send it back.

What *does* annoy me is when I get a call from somebody trying to sell me something, although I'm ex-directory and *never* give out my home number to companies. As soon as I argued the toss with them they just hung up.

As soon as I argued the toss with them they just hung up.I've had that a couple of times.. My solution was to sound interested and get as much information as possible about the company. Once you have that, ask them for the name of their Data Controller..... wait for the confused silence on the end of the phone.... then ask again. They are obliged to tell you.... you can then either write to the data controller demanding copies of all information they hold about you. (They have to provide this), or (if they hang up) you can report the company for a breach of data protection policy for not providing you with the name. It's amazing how quickly I got removed from a certain window sales company's list when I started down this route with them.Thing is, most of the people who call have *NO CLUE* about DPA or about the source of the data. One of the people I spoke to was genuinely shocked to hear that she was breaking the law ;-)
