What does Lyn want to use it for?
If it's for hill walking when she will have a map with her then something like the Garmin Geco would do as these will give you your position, height, direction of travel, programmed waypoints etc. They come in at about £74 new.
 
If she wants something with mapping then these start with the  Garmin Xtrax Legend and start at £137.

Best bet is to have a look around GPS Warehouse's site for all the info on what is available and what it can do.
