Fitting a 300TDi to a 110 Chassis
« on: September 06, 2005, 10:09:01 »
I have just bought a replacement 110 chassis which has engine mounts for 2.5 n/a Diesel.  I want to fit a 300TDi engine.  I have been told that the engine mounts can be fabricated with 2 inch angle iron.  Does anyone know the measurements to position these mounts and at what position they should be.  Pictures would be a great help.  I have been told that the best way is to fit gearbox to the crossmember and then position the engine to work out position however I am still waiting for a gearbox and the crossmember and the engine mounts need fixing soon so the chassis can get galvanised.

I wish this project would just hurry up and finish!

But I don't think it will if I keep making simple mistakes

Is all their details

I think its a bit pricey but then again within 30mins I had cut the mounts off and welded on the new ones so on reflection the extra cost is a bargain!!!!

As Hobbit said, Stormdancer had it done, give Tony a call at Shyre 4x4 in Bridlington, he the one who did it. talking to him the other day over a fuel leak, it cost about £400 in extra bits to get it right.

Do you want the template bud?  That will show you the position a treat.  Just bolt it to the steering holes and weld to your hearts content.

I lent it out for a tenner last week juts really to cover postage etc and just in case gets damaged, its there if you want it and you wont need gearbox etc.
