I noticed some comments on the Scooby forum about him getting the honary doctorate, well it's not for services to motoring according the the paper I read, it's for engineering, particulary his work on Brunel last year.  At a time when Engineers are undervalued in this country I think his work was particularly important and the research that went into it was worthy of a qualification, wether or not it was all his own work.

I don't always agree with Clarkson but we need a popular guy on our side and he is one of them.  Not only a petrolhead but a good interviewer, well read with a quick wit.  Anybody who saw him on QI with Stephen Fry would realise he's not some meatheaded car fanatic, he's a very good journalist who likes cars.

Oh and he's from Yorkshire :D

Actually I disagree, I think he's a bit of a pillock who has built a persona out of being obtuse, frequently for the sake of it.  Just because he happens to go along with some values held dear to the likes of us, doesn't mean he's not a prat.

I spent some time with the same mindset as you on this one, but I am now quite a big fan!  The thing that changed my view was reading more of his articles, which are very considered and accomplished bits of journalism in my opinion!

I am also a big fan of the latest format of Top Gear.

He's brilliant!

- cuts through all the PC garbage that is suffocating our media currently - I don't agree with all his views and he obviously has the TV persona to project to keep the ratings high   but alot of what he says is right on the button! - I love his writing too, has me in stitches a lot of the time :D

So... completely disagree with the 'pillock' adjective  [-X  [-(

One thing that can be safely assumed about 'our Jeremy' is that he creates reaction. You never hear "Oh, I don't really have an opinion about him"

I'm with the majority here.... sorry lobster!

Never used to like his comments, always found him to seem uninformed and arrogant.
The read his book while in hospital, which was made up from his newspaper articles. I realised what you get on top gear and what he can actually write are completely different. I was suprised on how many I agreed with him.
He's still an idiot at times. But aren't we all!
