im aliitle annoyed. this morning when i walked my boy to school my disco was fine.i came home after being away for no more than 5 mins to find that someone has hit my disco.  i know she aint new and she isnt in pristen condition but i am trying hard to sort that. then someone comes along and does this. well i have a little bit of luck. one of my neighbours head something and looked out of the window. she said she saw a lorry with a company name on the side. ( i wont mention the company for now for obviouse reasons   ).
i found the company on the net and gave them a ring. they were very apologetic for any damage caused. they have taken all the details and passed it on to their insurance company to deal with......im just glad someone saw who did the damage.....phew     heres a couple of pics.

i know its not alot of damage but still needs to be sorted
cheers

Typical, the driver would have heard/felt the knock - just obviously didn't care....

I think you owe your neighbour a pint (or two).

I know its going to be ahassle with it off road for a while (and not the off road you want!), but just think of the shiny new wings you are going to get.

Sorry you have had the knock, but glad you are in a position to claim.

Look on the bright side

Hmm.  I watched a 7.5 tonne truck barrel down a sliproad on the M6, pulled straight across into the middle lane (the right lane was coned off) and knocked a Volvo through the cones and into the roadworks.

He didn't stop, and if he didn't notice it, then he shouldn't be allowed near a vehicle, ever again.  I followed him and called the police, and after a few miles he must have realised I was there, and pulled over.

Scumbag...  Hope they did him for dangerous driving, as it was reckless in the extreme, and could have killed people.

It's a bummer when this sort of thing happens.  Hope you get it sorted OK.

Well done,

We need a few more conscientious people like you and Denviks neighbour.

I've had various dents and scrapes with nobody to blame, as I'm sure most of us have - I'm glad that some of these <insert insult here> get caught out, if you get reported at a later date it should have an adverse effect on your insurance (worse than just a claim alone).

Might make people think....

I had a council contractor smash into my motor on the 9 sept and after talking to about 8 or 9 poeple from the insurance company and brokers I'm still waiting for them to collect my motor to repair it.

The most annoying thing is I ddn't see the smash so haven't got a reg, so the insurance company wont give me a car to match my Discovery.

DO NOT use Lancaster/ EQUITY-RED STAR .

Some of these so-called 'professional drivers' in non-HGV trucks are extremely dangerous - they get out of a (small) car, and think 'It's not my fuel / vehicle, so who cares?', forgetting that even 7.5 tonnes is a real Battering Ram if it hits something.  I feel that a simpler form of the LGV test is required for these vehicles - and a speed limiter (set to, say, 65 mph) wouldn't go amiss, either.

You will win on both counts, you can't damage theirs but I agree it doesn't need to go back clean.

heres an update for you. i have have the insurance asseror out this morning and so far its good new. he took loads of pictures and said they are going to be able to sort the front wing out without much problem. the rear quater pannel will need to renewed though   . i should hear back in a few days as to when it will go in for repair. they will send out the replacement disco they day it gets picked up on a lorry. and he said they would have to respray the whole side of the disco so it looks right. 8)
so with any luck it will be sorted real soon. i will update again as soon as i hear anythink. i think its going smoothly so far.

well just had a call from the company dealing with it all. i can start to sence the arguments are not far off now. they called to ask me how the damage happened. all i know is one of their lorries hit my landie. he then said he cant see how the damage was caused in the way it had. i told him that it was a couple of my neighbours that actully saw it and not me but the lorry driver didnt even stop.

so it looks like i may end up having to go to the police yet. after all it was a hit and run. or is it with out due care and attention?

the only thing i know is the damage wasnt there before he hit it and now it is. the bloke said he didnt know how it could hit the back end and the front end without damage in between......im not an accident investigator.  :?  :?

It is standard practice for most companies to argue the toss. My mother recently had a A Plant wagone reverse into the side of her. The is no lateral marks at all as she was stationary. Now they claim it is her fault, cos she was moving?? Try and explain that one.

Stick to your guns, and don't let them get you down.

Well, maybe the lorry steered out - and hit the back corner of your car - and steered in - and hit the front corner of your car - while trying to squeeze past oncoming traffic?

I agree, you're the innocent party here.

I can't see the original pictures you posted (heve they gone or is it me?).

I'm sure your indicator had been knocked off, is that not damage inbetween - or is that the 'front' damage.

i will try and get the pics up again. i accidently deleted some from my photo box by mistake.   ....another thick moment and im not even blonde

they hit the front drivers side wing first scratching it and knocking the side repeater off and putting a dent behind it. there is also a dent in the rear quater pannel that runs from just below the window down to the plastic trim at the bottom. also the rear bumper plastic has been moved back.
all this stress on my birthday aswell.........  might have to have a few beers tonight i think.
on a good point they have just authersied the rear quater pannel to be replaced but not the front. they are trying to contact the lorry driver in question. cant see the point really as he apparently didnt realise he had hit me :? ......

Ahh, if he hit the front first, he could easily have pulled out slightly (enough to miis the 'middle') but then hit the rear as it sticks out further...

Does that sound viable  - I haven't got mine with me (SWMBO has stolen it again!).

but anyway....

Stick with it mate & dont give in to them, it's a well known tactic, to give you the main part & hope with all thge streess & messing about you will give in & pay for the smaller damage yourself, tell him you will be wrighting to the 'insurance ombusman' if you do not get satisfaction, if he gets involved it will cost their insurance company at least £500 win or lose,

Hope this helps, if you need a insurance estimate let ne know & i'll sort you one out,

John.

Do you have any intention of cleaining it?

I have some friends with Discovery 3's, they don't/won't off road them but on the road the ride is amazing, and they are so quiet.

I'm jelous now, can you arrange for that firm to come and hit mine

Glad to hear the insurance company has given in.
