I am looking for your opinions

Looks Like "Jnr" our disco is needing some timely replacements :cry:

so He is getting Booted and piped.
I want to know how big i can go without mod to suspension , stearing and body
i am on 235/70x16 AT but they seem more road then mud
i fancy
235/85x16 or
265/75x16 or
235/75x16
as for exhaust i am just not sure to go with stainless for steel
pro and cons would be apricated for that one  :D

Hi All
Exhuast is reasonablly simple, are you going to do real off road (fun days etc) or just green laneing, if fun day are to be done likely as not the exhuast will get knocked about and damaged, not a good idea to have stainless as you will need to replace it long before it falls apart naturally.
If on the other hand the most off roading you will do is green laneing then stainless will last for many years.
As for Tyres that is a whole lot different.
If you can fit them depends on, The size, The width, The wall size, The rims, The tread pattern, The possition of the lock stops, How much weight in the back and many more veriables.
The only way to find out is to trye it and see.
Thats my opinion if you are interested.

Tony,

Your first two tyre size choices will definitely involve suspension lifts and bodywork mods.

235/75 is not one I've heard of before but is going to be little different to the standard ones. You might want to consider 245/70 or 245/75. I've got the latter on mine and the only mod required is to cut a little bit out of the trailing edges of the rear wings. They give a useful increase in height of about an inch and as an added bonus will make the speedo read acurately :D (Disco speedos typically read 6% under and this tyre size is equivalent to a 6% increase).

An often unconsidered consequence of fitting bigger tyres is the change in gearing affecting performance. With a Tdi this manifests as a reduction in top speed more than acceleration because of the relative torque and power curves. It's the other way with a V8 but is less noticable anyway. This isn't a huge problem but it's worth bearing in mind. If, for instance, you've got a big roof rack fitted then maintaining motorway speeds up hill may become more of a challenge. On the plus side, the increase in gearing may give a small fuel economy boost :D

Place in bulwell who specialises in custom built exhausts, not sure on the prices though, does mainly stainless steel

I have an SS exhaust on Piglet <shown below>

I chose it because I wanted some tough that would last - so far it has bent 2 rear bumpers ;-)

I would be suprised if the exhaust bent that bumper, it looks like a Sporpion Recovery one to me.
But who am I to disagree with a man in your position :wink:

Now when the exhuast hits the bumper it is the irisistable force meeting the imoverable object.
You did not comment on the number PIG MUD is that piglets new real number or you just being showy.
If it is the new number answer me the question "has Swansea realised that MUD is a sort after suffix or are they still about £400 each.

P19 MUD is his new number ;-)

My exhausts are made from very very high grade SS (they are JE specials! ... £1000 for the cat back system!). They are capable of bending the standard LR flimsy Disco bumper with ease......
