Why does your exhaust run up the side of your windscreen?
« on: October 07, 2005, 14:07:41 »
Just been working on the Disco outside, and someone came up to me and asked just that.  In fact, I think it's the most common question that people ask me about the vehicle, and I never get fed up of explaining it to people, especially if (like the chap today) they finish the conversation with "Nice car!" or something similar.

So, what's your favourite question that people ask about your vehicle?

I get that a lot, there is a man who walks his dog past us and he always stops to see what I'm fixing this week, not that I ever seem to be improving it (eg snorkel, raised), but there always seems to be something wrong with it!

The usual one I get about the 110 is "why do you want something like that ?" - my reply.......because:

a) I want it
b) I can have it
c) It does everything I ask of it (and a bit more !)
d) It saves me having to hire a van to move stuff about
e) I don't need to clean it when it gets covered in muck and cr4p
The list is endless............

I usually get "Cool Car" or "Wow, what do you do in that"

But that's coz I live opposite a primary school :)

I also get "How did you get it THAT dirty" and "Well, it makes mine look clean" from the neighbours....

Did have one chap ask if I carried a carrier bag with me 'coz his dog didn't make that that much mess...!

'Why don't you get a normal first car like every other 17 year old?'

umm... Cheap insurance, can get all my mates in the back, so much fun but most importantly it will not be a right off if I hit any thing!

"you planning a safari or something"? I have had a couple of times (they look surprised when I say Yes)

"Why have you got two"? reply - "cus the big one is the wifes" Shuts em up

"Do you like yellow or something" - "Yes"

But the most common is "whats that bit do"?
closely followed by
"Can I ask a favour of you"?
"A wise man has something to say a fool has to say something"
"Think of it as evolution in action" and yes, I do know that I can't spell thank you.

My neighbour's response to the 101 was "Will it be here long?"

My response was "Only until the weekend."

"Oh, quite a long time, then..."

"WELL IT'S NOT REALLY THAT LONG, IS IT!"

I then pointed out that it was taxed, MOTd and insured, and legally I had every right to leave it there as long as I bloody well wanted.

After that they apologised - I think they realised that if they didn't shut up I might just do that!

They just have to stick there nose into everything don't they. I dispise my neighbours as they comment on everything. Wait till winter when they are all stuck on the hill and I just drive up like nothing has happened....Want loads of snow this year.....please

the most annoying saying for me has to be something along the lines of "I like your Jeep!"  and they usually get the same reply as said Turtle!

i stay in a culdesac with 2 parking bay areas so the racer sits at one end of the culdesac & my road 90 sits at the other, the old dear in the end house has complained before about the mud n crud running uphill onto the footpath outside her house n getting trampled inside, the normal reply is well dont walk around my motor being nosey
she also called the racer a "van" so i bought a 90 hardtop which is normally oarked outside her house to reminf her what a van looks like
