Which one Neal, front or back? Are you sure it's shutting completely?

I'm not sure, but do they have drain tubes? If so, make sure they are clear. Also, make sure the join/seal is clean.

Sorry if all that is obvious

i,ve checked and rechecked the mech and its shutting no probs ,maybe its the rubber this time,i have heard they go hard after a while so maybe it needs a bit of softening up. its always the front one that leaks but then i suppose its the one that gets used the most

I remember reading that the seal is the same as on a peugot, 205/309 ??

They are a lot cheaper than a LR one.

I used some olive oil on the rubbers on mine and it came up like new and sealed it back up again. It may be that the rubber isn't as pliable (spooling)

Mine used to leak too, I have a 1990 V8 but I assume the sun roofs are the same.  I tried everything, in the end it turned out to be the metal hinges towards the front of the roof, they had been bent slightly, I bent them back, no leaks and now I dont open it !

Thay are a bit of a waste of time anyway, opening the windows or turning on the air con is much better :)

strangely my 1990 V8 doesnt leak but my 98 300tdi does   i,ve clean all round the seal and mech now and reshut it so i,ll see what happens, i,m suspecting as its electric the little plastic rollers that run in the track may be a bit worn and not clamping the glass down as tightly as they used to in the closed position

When my 98 TDi developed a leak (read: waterfall) from the rear sunroof, it turned out to be the frame mounting to the roof.

Only fix was to have a new frame fitted, I tried everything.  Cost was £180 for a new matching sunroof, fitted, but no leaks whatsoever since.

Probably not what you wanted to hear.  :D

I hate sunroofs.  Next vehicle,  no sunroof.  Especially not TWO of the damn things!

my rear sunroof leaked on my td5 disco.
so i removed the seal, cleaned it up and the channel it sits in.
put a small bed of silicone all round the channel, replaced the seal
closed the sunroof to hold it in place till it sets. then smear some vasoline round the top of the seal wear it meets the glass.

no leaks since. and i can still use the sunroof.

as what happerns is the sun bakes the seal and it sticks to the glass, so when you open it it lifts the seal with it, but you dont notice, until it rains.

hope this helps.
