in cab heater

Now winter seems to have firmly set in does any one have any hint/tip's about fitting an in cab heater?
I want to fit something that will be better than the normal heater on the old 90. Looking at something that must be small,worth the cost/hassle and that can be wired into electrics on perminant basis.

Also need some idears on where could put the heater in the cab where wont cause to much swearing

I've had a couple of those electric ones that sit on the dash but they didn't seam to last that long.
 An other option is to look for a Webasto or Eberspacher cab heater kit. There seems to be a fair few on ebay at the moment. Bit pricey but worth the investment. One nice feature on some is a built in timer so you could set it going 10min before you go to work on those cold winter morning.

bought a small 12v cab heater from demon tweeks last year.not enough to heat the cab up really but took the chill off.when used in conjunction with the landy heater it really made a difference.
i mounted it in the rear above the back window on the o/s facing the driver.

does anyone know if the heater assembly from the Discovery 300Tdi will fit as a replacement for the '90 heater assy??

It won't I'm afraid.

Depending on the age of the vehicle, you can "upgrade" your heater by fitting  one from a later vehicle.

The earlier vehicles had a heater with pipes that turn downwards out of the side of the box.  If you can find a heater with a pair of plastic pipes which come straight out, (from a 300 series onward I think) then you should find they are a bit more efficient.


The other alternative is to fit a V8 and an auto box...  no shortage of heat there !!

sone one mentioned they had put a 12volt caravan heater in there landy and had made quite a difference but like the idear of fitting disco heater in place of the original

Thanks Tim, it was a long shot worth firing I guess. The heater in my lads '90 only works on slow speed and I am sure it blows more cold air than hot!!!

I did see something on (I think) eBay regarding as resistor which can be replaced to give more power from the heater..... Do you know anything about that 'mod'. It seemed a bit suspicious to me
