Rosa Parks grew up in a time where she couldn't eat in most restaurants, purely because of her tone of skin.
America was going through a significant state of flux. A few years later they put men on the moon, and this was hailed as new dawn of mankind. But hey, where did it really get us? Did it stop wars? Did it improve the lives in the world? Did it make people realise their mistakes? No.
Despite the 'feel good' rhetoric and 'back slapping', proving we could reach a hunk of rock was meaningless compared to the actions of a lady who treasured amongst all else the value and dignity of her family, friends and culture.
She really saw the world from a different perspective - and unlike NASA, she helped millions of others see it, too.
A great, great woman.
