Alternator light doesn't glow anymore
« on: October 26, 2005, 22:41:59 »
As most folks will know since I bought Whinne last November the alternator light glowed when the headlights were on.  I have posted several posts regarding alternator, diodes, earths, dim dip units etc etc and followed peoples advice but sadly no solution was found.

However whilst tracing the wiring for the imobiliser fault (see cutting out post from Cogs) I burnt the back of my hand on a large terminal post in the drivers footwell (lefthand side).  This terminal post takes main 12 volt supply from battery/alternator (and also connected to starter motor) to inside vehicle.  When I checked the connections the nut was loose therefore bad connection.  Tightened up and no alternator light and my headlights are now nice and bright  :(biggrin):  \:D/

That reminds me, my headlights are a little dim as it drops about 1.3 volts in the wiring loom.  Another job I've put off 'till the weather gets bad
