Radio wiring
« on: November 01, 2005, 12:41:00 »
I have almost wired my sterio in a 300 tdi and worked out which wires go with which speakers using the trusted duracel method as the previous owner had cut the sockets off and left a spaghetti junction in there. Now heres the but.... I have a few wires left to connect and not sure what they are for, they are:

Purple
thin black (the thicker black I have connected to negative)
Blue (electric ariel?)
red/brown
blue/yellow
There is also a red and black wire connected to a thin looking socket (original disc changer maybe?).

Does anyone know what these wires are for? There is also a set of speakers (base speakers?) in the rear door which I'm not sure how to wire up

Any help would be appreciated or if someone has a diagram/colour code for these wires?

I'm fairly sure(ish) that is the connection for the switches around the instrument console. Useful if you have a standard LR radio, or certain others may have an adaptor available.

As for the rest - I don't know off-hand but I could take a look at mine. I won't be able to do it until Saturday though ... it's dark by the time I'm home!
