At Least It's Not Blue!!!
« on: November 02, 2005, 10:09:08 »
I've taken the Fabia in for a spot of warranty work earlier this morning, it's decided to have a drip on the radiator, or bottom hose.

I'd asked (again) for the possible loan of a new Octavia, but told they're not available as courtesy cars

So I was queuing on the M62 & M1 at 08:20 this morning & sitting listening to Terry Wogan & praying;
"Please don't give me the 'Blue Pig' this time" [-o<

So I pulled in & did all the usual stuff, signed my life away, he check my licence for points & came back with some keys;
"Right Mr Thackeray, here's the keys for your courtesy vehicle"

I looked at the registration & glanced outside :(biglove):  :(bigwicked):
They belonged to a black vRS Octavia (not officially released yet, I don't think??)

Whoopee!!

I'd just opened the door & was about to sit down when he came out;
"I'm terribly sorry Mr Thackeray, I've given you the wrong keys!!"
"Oh, no. This WILL be perfectly adequate"
"No, I must insist, it's the Dealer Principles assessment car"
"Oh, go on, ask him nicely for me"

Sadly, I got out :cry:

And received the keys to a Fabia hatchback, with an empty tank (as always) & a radio with all the pre-sets on daft commercial radio (soon sorted,  :lol: )
I daredn't open the bonnet but it sounds like another 3-cylinder

Pictured on an pavement there......

Does that infer it drives at walking pace  :lol:

Shame about the other car, you would think that they would have let you take it, on a 'too late' basis, what has happened to customer service?

A friend had the opposite happen to her - took her Punto in for a service and got an M5 as a loan car.

Well, the pavement's are about 9foot wide down the side of the house.
Out there are the moment, there's;
The Discovery (lives outside, too muddy for the drive :roll: )
The Mondeo is outside (had to move it to get Fabia out of garage, no point in putting it back until our Fabia returns)
Plus this red Fabia

I looked it was another bl**dy 3-cylinder, they run terribly rough.

I got the call & went back to pick it up.
So now it's got a new radiator, & for some reason?, a header tank (plus various seals, gaskets, etc..)

Oh well, at least it's sorted before the warranty expires at the end of March.
There's no comparison between the 2, even though ours is only the 1.4Mpi.
Once it was home & tucked away in the garage, I went to Morrisons in the Mondeo.
In comparison again, that was like; "Wakefield, We have Lift-Off!!

After getting into the Discovery after the Mondeo, I'm always mentally playing the theme to 'Steptoe & Son', y'know; all slow & plodding :lol:  (but that could just be me? :wink:

Is it as bad as the Coarser 3 cylinder? I think they are special cars for the coourtesy car market as they are so dire people only drive them home, thereby eliminating the risk of an accident.

'Coaser' :lol:
Somehow I don't think you're joking there. I haven't tried a mark 2 Corsa, but my mum has a 'R' plater (bought new) & it's terrible.
Bro-in-laws ex-girlfriend had a 'P' Polo. With less than 10,000 on the Corsa, & about 30,000 on the Polo there was absolutely no comparison at all - Corsa rattled like a bag of bolts & not very good bolts at that

That's all I did, apart from a trip to Morissons on the way back for food for the 2 Hounds (after all I had to put £5.00 of petrol in it :roll: )

Our Estates Department (works yard) have just taken delivery of 3 Fabia 1.9Tdi estates for running about in.
I wangled a go in one, & they're amazing :D  :D
Not up to vRS standards, but still damn good
